Dubai-based airline flydubai has adjusted its flight schedule to Dhaka, Bangladesh, as confirmed by an airline spokesperson to Khaleej Times on Saturday.

"Flydubai's flights to Dhaka International Airport (DAC) from Saturday (July 20) to Tuesday (July 23) will feature a modified departure time. Flight FZ 501 will now depart at 7am (UAE time) from Dubai International (DXB), instead of 12.10am, and return flight FZ 502 will take off at 3pm (Bangladesh time) from Dhaka Airport (DAC)." The spokesperson mentioned that they are in contact with passengers regarding their reservations and stated, "We will continue to closely monitor the situation (in Bangladesh)."

Bangladesh has implemented a curfew and deployed military forces after police were unable to suppress the widespread violent unrest that has claimed at least 110 lives. The protests are demanding the government abolish its preferential hiring policies for coveted civil service positions. Meanwhile, Bangladeshi expatriates in the UAE are increasingly concerned for their families back home as the violent confrontations between protesters and police escalate. Communication networks have been disrupted and internet services have been cut off across the country.
