A red alert has been issued in certain areas due to fog, resulting in a reduction of horizontal visibility, effective from 7.14am to 9.15am. In other parts of the country, a yellow alert has been issued for potential fog formation. Areas under alert include Abu Dhabi, where foggy conditions are prevalent, prompting police to advise motorists to drive with caution due to the decreased visibility. Residents can anticipate mist and fog forming overnight and into Tuesday morning.
Abu Dhabi Police have also lowered speed limits to 80kmph on certain roads, such as Hazza bin Sultan the First road and Bida'a Al Mutawa road. Motorists are urged to adhere to the updated speed limits displayed on boards. Fog is likely to form over coastal and inland areas, particularly in the western regions. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the weather is expected to be fair with occasional partly cloudy conditions during the day. Light to moderate winds will blow, occasionally freshening, while the sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea. Humidity levels will rise to 90% in coastal and inland areas, but can drop to 15% in the mountains.
With summer officially ending yesterday and the autumn equinox occurring at 4.44pm on September 22, temperatures are expected to drop. Nighttime temperatures will fall below 25°C, and daytime temperatures will dip below 40°C. Today, temperatures in Dubai are forecast to range between 28°C and 42°C, while in Abu Dhabi, they are expected to be between 27°C and 43°C.
