The Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) has reached an agreement to provide extra land for the expansion of the Mena Terminal at the Port of Fujairah. The Mena Terminal, purchased by the Mercantile & Maritime Group in October 2023, is a key strategic energy trading hub and one of the world's largest bunkering centers. This additional land, measuring 54,000m2, will facilitate the building of a biofuel processing facility, aligning with FOIZ's goal to promote low carbon and green fuel production within the zone. This initiative also supports the Emirate of Fujairah and UAE's plans to reduce emissions and boost the proportion of green fuels in the energy sector.

The Mena Terminal is a substantial bulk liquid storage facility in the Port of Fujairah, featuring 14 tanks with a capacity of 2.2 million barrels, holding 352,000m3 of refined petroleum products. It is connected to all terminals in Fujairah and includes 6 jetty lines accessing 9 main berths and 2 bunker barge berths. The terminal operates at a rate of 4,500 cbm/hour for black products and 3,000 cbm/hour for white products. It boasts an advanced power generation system, including solar, and maintains exceptional health and safety standards managed by a dedicated team.

Capt. Salem Al Afkham Al Hamoudi, Director of FOIZ, emphasized the Mena Terminal's crucial role in advancing FOIZ's objectives in the hydrocarbon sector. He expressed FOIZ's enthusiasm for supporting the Mena Project's expansion into green fuels. Murtaza Lakhani, Chairman of Mena Terminals Fujairah FZCO, highlighted the terminal's leadership in environmental practices and thanked FOIZ for their support in the energy transition efforts.
