Ford's iconic keypad entry system, known as SecuriCode, has been a favorite feature for many years, especially on Ford trucks and SUVs, enabling keyless access by entering a code. However, Ford has discreetly phased out this factory option in several models, including the Bronco Sport, Escape, Explorer, and Maverick, with the 2025 F-150 being the most recent model to lose this feature as standard equipment. Previously standard on all F-150 models except the XL, the SecuriCode is now available only as a dealer accessory on certain trims of the 2025 F-150 and other Ford models, at an additional cost of $455.
Despite its removal as a standard feature, the SecuriCode remains popular among owners, but the shift towards smart key fobs and keyless entry systems, including the phone-as-key option via the FordPass app, suggests a move away from this older technology. Lincoln, however, continues to offer the SecuriCode as standard on some models, such as the 2025 Corsair and Aviator SUVs, depending on the trim.
