Naomi Osaka, Bianca Andreescu, and Stan Wawrinka, all former champions, have been granted singles main draw wildcards for the US Open, according to the United States Tennis Association's announcement on Wednesday.

Osaka, from Japan, who has won four Grand Slam titles including the 2018 and 2020 US Opens, resumed her competitive career in January following the birth of her daughter. She has progressed to the third round or better in four WTA 1000 events this year.

Canada's Andreescu, the 2019 US Open winner, made her comeback this year after a nine-month absence due to a back injury, reaching the third round of the French Open in her initial tournament back. Swiss player Wawrinka, who last won a Grand Slam at the 2016 US Open, will use the wildcard to participate in his 72nd main draw at one of the four premier tennis events, ranking him fifth all-time.

Austrian Dominic Thiem, the 2020 US Open champion who has announced his retirement after the 2024 season due to a wrist injury, has also been awarded a wildcard. The US Open is scheduled to take place from August 26 to September 8 in New York.
