Earlier this month, Epic Games revealed that Fortnite would be introducing an official first-person mode in Fortnite Ballistic. The early-access release of Fortnite Ballistic went live this morning, but it quickly encountered matchmaking issues, likely due to high demand. Once the mode is back up and running, players can engage in 5v5 battles with teams divided into attackers and defenders. The attackers must activate a Rift Point Device bomb, while the defenders are tasked with disarming it by any means necessary. If the bomb detonates, the attacking team wins. Notably, there are no respawns in this mode; players who are eliminated will shatter into pieces until the next round begins. A round can also conclude early if an entire team is wiped out before the bomb is neutralized or detonated. Teams will switch sides after six rounds, and the first team to secure seven rounds wins the match. Both ranked and unranked play options are available.
Currently, Skyline 10 is the sole map available in Fortnite Ballistic, with more maps expected to be added in the future. However, pickaxes, contrails, instruments, vehicles, and jam tracks are not supported in this mode. Players can, however, use proximity mines, bubble shields, recon grenades, frag grenades, and impulse grenades. Later this week, Epic Games is set to launch Lego Fortnite Brick Life, an open-world social-sim expansion for Lego Fortnite. Additionally, OG Fortnite made its permanent return earlier this month. In other Fortnite news, Epic Games has started issuing the first FTC-mandated settlement checks. The Federal Trade Commission penalized Epic Games for Fortnite's "counterintuitive, inconsistent, and confusing button configuration," which led to unwanted charges for players of all ages pressing a single button. Players who played Fortnite before 2022 can still submit settlement claims on the FTC website.
