Public parking in Sharjah will be free on the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, which falls on Sunday, September 15.
Sharjah Municipality has clarified that this exemption does not extend to the seven-day paid public parking zones. These zones operate throughout the week, including on official holidays, and are marked by blue parking information signs.
In most Islamic countries, including the Gulf countries, the Prophet's birthday is celebrated on 12 Rabi’ Al-Awwal 1444, which corresponds to the third month of the Islamic calendar. Following this holiday, UAE residents can look forward to a longer break in December for National Day. The dates of December 2 and 3, falling on a Monday and Tuesday respectively, combined with the weekend, will result in a four-day holiday.
Regarding paid parking during public holidays, on September 2, the Municipality announced that all public parking in the Muwaileh commercial area of Sharjah is now subject to charges throughout the week, including public holidays. This measure is aimed at managing the high demand for parking spaces in this vital residential and commercial district. Blue directional signs have been installed by the Public Parking Management of Sharjah Municipality across the area to inform drivers of the new timings and fees.
