Dubai resident Drisya Pai has transformed her personal journey of postpartum recovery and weight loss into a successful coaching career. After shedding 20kg, she now assists other mothers in overcoming their postpartum challenges through personalized fitness programs.

Originally from Alleppey, Kerala, the 29-year-old Drisya began her career in engineering, graduating from Mar Athanasius College of Engineering. Although she was an active student who won the Kalathilakam, a prestigious talent title awarded by the Government of Kerala, fitness was not a priority until she was selected for the Indian Navy. This pivotal moment inspired her to focus on her health.

Seeking better career opportunities, she relocated to the UAE in 2018, married her husband Arvind in 2019, and gave birth to her son Dhruvaen in 2021. However, the birth of her son brought significant challenges. Weighing 20kg more than her pre-pregnancy weight, Drisya struggled with severe back pain, postpartum loneliness, and depression, compounded by the isolation of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Determined to heal herself, Drisya researched postpartum fitness and quickly realized that standard workouts were not suitable for her needs. After experiencing breast engorgement from YouTube workouts, she knew she needed a specialized approach. She subsequently completed certifications in pre and post-natal fitness training and is now a level 4 personal trainer.

Drisya's coaching model offers customized, non-time-bound programs tailored to weight loss, fitness, and recovery. One of her clients, Rajani, saw remarkable results, losing 9kg and reducing face fat and pigmentation. Another client, Gehan, a bride-to-be from Syria, achieved her fitness goals for her wedding with Drisya's help. Radhika, who suffered from PCOS, also saw significant weight loss in 12 weeks.

Drisya credits her husband, Arvind, for his crucial support. Looking ahead, she plans to extend support to women with PCOS and those preparing for subsequent pregnancies. She emphasizes sustainable fitness and advises mothers to incorporate movement at any time of day, rather than abandoning workouts if their set time is missed.
