The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has called on resident juridical persons with licenses issued in October and November, regardless of the year of issuance, to submit their corporate tax registration application by November 30, 2024. In a statement released on Sunday, the FTA emphasized the importance of adhering to the timelines outlined in FTA Decision No. 3 of 2024, which specifies the registration deadlines for taxable persons under Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022 on the Taxation of Corporations and Businesses and its amendments, effective from March 1, 2024.

The FTA decision sets specific deadlines for each category of taxable persons subject to corporate tax to file their corporate tax registration applications. According to Cabinet Decision No. 75 of 2023 on administrative penalties for violations related to Federal Decree-Law No. 47, an administrative penalty will be imposed on taxable persons who fail to submit their corporate tax registration application within the stipulated time periods.

This decision applies to both juridical and natural persons, whether resident or non-resident. Resident juridical persons established or recognized before March 1, 2024, must submit their corporate tax registration application based on the month their license was issued, irrespective of the year. For taxable persons holding multiple licenses as of March 1, 2024, the deadline is determined by the license with the earliest issuance date. Even if a license has expired by March 1, 2024, the registration deadline remains based on the month of issuance.

Corporate tax registration can be completed through the EmaraTax digital tax services platform, available 24/7. The registration process is streamlined into four main steps, taking approximately 30 minutes to complete. The platform also allows existing value added tax or excise tax registrants to access their accounts via EmaraTax, complete corporate tax registration, and submit the necessary documents. Upon approval of the registration request, taxable persons will receive a tax registration number for corporate tax purposes.
