The 40.7-metre full-custom explorer yacht Hygge has been successfully delivered. Constructed by Brazilian shipyard MCP Yachts, Hygge was launched from their facility in Guarujá in June 2024. During sea trials, she surpassed her contractual speed, reaching a top speed of 22.2 knots, with the owner at the helm. This yacht marks another collaboration with Dutch design studio Vripack, following their previous projects together, including the 37.4-metre Queen Tati, a finalist at the World Superyacht Awards, and the 43.8-metre Raffaella II.

Due to the limitations in length imposed by the shipyard's facilities, Vripack chose to 'go bigger rather than longer.' As a result, Hygge boasts the largest volume (376 GT) for a full aluminium motor yacht built in South America to date. She can accommodate 18 guests in seven guest cabins, which include an upper deck forward-facing owner’s suite with his and hers bathrooms and a private terrace, along with additional crew quarters. This layout was achieved through Vripack’s space-maximising interior design, which relocated the galley and laundry room to the lower deck portside, freeing up the main deck midsection for four spacious guest cabins. Two additional guest cabins are situated on the lower deck starboard side. All areas are serviced by crew via independent stairs, a feature not commonly found in yachts of similar size.

“We divided the lower deck into two distinct areas,” explained Bart Bouwhuis, co-creative director at Vripack. “Each section has separate access and stairways, ensuring uninterrupted service across all decks and allowing guests to enjoy privacy. This also means the main deck is entirely dedicated to guest use.” Although interior details have not been disclosed, they will include oversized windows and a blend of classic and modern elements designed by South American designer Leonardo Rotsen. Notable features onboard include a lower deck beach club and spa, featuring a gym, sauna, and swim platform. The main deck hosts a large lounge, complemented by al fresco dining on the aft deck and a set of semi-circular oversized sunpads. The upper deck offers private banquet seating and has been designed with gullwing lookouts for expansive views.

Damien Chaves, director of engineering at MCP Yachts, commented: “Hygge is built with a full-aluminum hull, providing unmatched internal volume, lightness, and autonomy. She is a 40-metre superyacht that offers the comfort of a 50-metre, yet with draught and lightness features that enable owners a more dynamic, versatile, and sustainable range for global exploration.” The RINA-classed yacht is equipped with two Caterpillar C32 engines, allowing for a maximum speed of 19 knots and a transoceanic range of 3,500 nautical miles at 10 knots.
