Dubai Golden Visa holder Gaganjeet Bhullar (Ind) was recently seen in action at the Riyadh Golf Club during the PIF Saudi International on the Asian Tour. This week, he returns to the same course to compete in the LIV Golf Promotions in Saudi Arabia.
This week marks a pivotal moment for one golfer, as the LIV Golf Promotions at Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia offers a life-changing opportunity. Golf's charm lies in its unpredictability, and unlike many other sports, every week brings the potential for a transformative moment. The three-day, four-round tournament, running from Thursday to Saturday, will see 93 players vying for a coveted 'Golden Ticket' to join the 2025 LIV Golf League, spanning the globe.
On the first day, 64 players will compete over 18 holes, with the top 20 players and ties advancing to Friday, where scores will be reset. According to the LIV Golf Promotions Official Rules and Regulations, players exempt from round one will join the field from various professional golf tours worldwide. The top 20 players, potentially through a playoff if necessary, will move on to the 'Super-Saturday Shootout.'
Scores will be reset on Friday night for the 36 holes on the final day. The winner on Saturday afternoon will secure $200,000 and a highly sought-after spot in the 2025 LIV Golf League, with the chance to be signed by one of the LIV Golf League teams. Additionally, the top 10 finishers and ties will earn full exemption into all 2025 events on The International Series schedule, sanctioned by the Asian Tour.
The LIV Promotions field includes stars of the elite amateur game, accomplished pros such as former Ryder Cup player Chris Wood (Eng), ten former Walker Cup and Palmer Cup players, and winners from the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, Asian Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, Challenge Tour, Sunshine Tour, and other global tours. Notable players in the field include Branden Grace (RSA), Dubai-based Adri Arnaus (Spain), Tom Lewis (Eng), John Catlin (US), Kalle Samooja (Fin), and Hudson Swafford (US).
Gaganjeet Bhullar (IND) commented on the opportunity, stating: “I played here last week at Riyadh Golf Club in the $5 million PIF Saudi International on the Asian Tour, where I scored rounds of 70, 67, 73, and 71 to finish at three under par. My game needs significant improvement this week to have a chance.” He added, “I am focusing on strengthening some weaker areas in my game. The format this week is unique, requiring only to advance to the next round on the first two days—then it comes down to playing your best in the 36 holes on Saturday.”
“There is only one spot available from this week’s field, but for that one person, it is a life-changing opportunity. I hope to be in the mix come Saturday afternoon,” Bhullar concluded.
Meanwhile, Dubai’s Rayhan Thomas will be competing in the PGA Tour Qualifying School presented by Korn Ferry, held at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, starting on Thursday.
