Unless you owned a CRT TV or a Sinden light gun, Time Crisis has been largely inaccessible for most fans of the classic arcade shoot-'em-up genre. However, this is about to change with the announcement from Dashine Electronics of GAIME, a new device featuring an "AI-powered" light gun that the company claims can operate on contemporary LCD TVs and comes preloaded with Time Crisis.
Pricing for the GAIME starts at $90 for the base unit and $120 for the deluxe version, which includes a pedal controller. Although a release date has not been set, Dashine Electronics plans to unveil the GAIME at the Tokyo Game Show this week. On their official website, the company highlights that the GAIME utilizes "state-of-the-art" AI technology to provide a seamless plug-and-play experience. "The AI Gun is designed to self-calibrate by intelligently recognizing your screen, delivering unmatched accuracy and ease of use. It functions from various angles and distances, supports a wide range of common screen sizes, and can be tilted for shooting—making it ideal for casual gamers."
For enthusiasts of rail-shooter games, the GAIME could offer an affordable route to playing Time Crisis or other compatible games. Alternative options include Arcade 1Up's Time Crisis cabinet, which costs around $750, or the Sinden light gun, which shares technology with the Time Crisis cabinet. The Sinden light gun is similarly priced to the GAIME and primarily works with PCs, while also supporting PS1 and PS2 consoles through a physical modification.
