The beloved Star Trek parody, Galaxy Quest, is marking its 25th anniversary with a 4K Blu-ray release. Preorders for both the Limited Edition Steelbook and the standard 4K version are now available on Amazon. The Steelbook is currently discounted to $24.49 (originally $31), making it a more attractive option than the standard 4K Blu-ray, which is also priced at $24.49 without the steelbook casing. Unless you have a preference against steelbooks, it's advisable to grab the Limited Edition before its December 3 release.
This new 4K remaster of Galaxy Quest features a vibrant cover showcasing the main cast, including Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, and Daryl Mitchell. This marks the first 4K release of the film, enhanced with HDR-10, Dolby Vision, and dynamic Dolby Atmos sound. The steelbook edition also includes a plethora of special features, such as all the legacy extras from previous DVD and Blu-ray releases.
For those who missed Galaxy Quest when it first debuted, you've missed out on one of the finest and funniest sci-fi films ever made. The movie cleverly pays homage to and satirizes Star Trek, following a group of actors from the fictional TV show, "Galaxy Quest," who are unexpectedly transported onto a real spaceship operated by aliens who believe the characters they portray on TV are real.
