Indian cricket coach Gautam Gambhir is set to return home amid the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025 and will miss the two-day tour game against Prime Minister's XI in Canberra, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

The report indicated that Gambhir had departed the squad to be in India for personal reasons. A spokesperson from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed to ESPNcricinfo that the India head coach will rejoin the squad before the Adelaide Test, which commences on December 6.

During Gambhir's temporary absence, assistant coaches Abhishek Nayar, Ryan ten Doeschate, and Morne Morkel will oversee the team's operations. Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has begun practicing in the nets after joining the team in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy following the birth of his second child.

India managed a remarkable comeback from a series whitewash against New Zealand at home, defeating Australia by 295 runs in Perth, despite being dismissed for just 150 runs in their first innings.
