November 7 is not only celebrated as N7 Day by gamers but also marks the anniversary of the first Gears of War release on Xbox 360 in 2006. Today, Xbox Game Studios commemorates the 18th anniversary of this iconic game by confirming that the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day will feature the original voice actors for Marcus Fenix and Dominic "Dom" Santiago.
The official Gears of War account on X made the announcement, welcoming John DiMaggio (Futurama) and Carlos Ferro back to their roles as Marcus and Dom. E-Day is a prequel set 14 years before the original Gears of War, depicting Marcus and Dom as young soldiers in the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Sera, their world, is at peace until the Locust Horde attacks on Emergence Day, threatening humanity's existence.
The game introduces a new city, Kalona, which will be pivotal to the story. Developed by The Coalition, Gears of War: E-Day does not yet have a release date. It is expected to be an Xbox Series X|S exclusive, though rumors suggest a potential PlayStation 5 release. Series creator Cliff Bleszinski has expressed support for Gears of War on PS5, despite having departed from the franchise.
