A German-Swedish couple, Dr. Maximilian Riewer and Anna Maria Silfverskiöld, have made it their mission to bring smiles to their customers — quite literally. Dr. Riewer, a dentist, finds immense satisfaction in helping his patients achieve perfect smiles. His dedication has resulted in a loyal client base; he now treats the children of patients he once cared for at his clinic in Dubai Sky Clinic.

“Our oldest dental clinic in the city was established 20 years ago. I manage three clinics with over 50 employees. The quality of life in Dubai was a major draw for me when I first arrived, and I have since started a family here. Dubai’s secure environment provides a strong foundation for us,” shared Dr. Riewer, the founder of Dubai Sky Clinic.

Dr. Riewer, who has been living and working in Dubai since 2003, has always been keen on expanding his practice. Meanwhile, Swedish national Silfverskiöld, who moved to Dubai in 2002, worked in management at a local bank. The couple tied the knot in 2012 during a beautiful ceremony at the One & Only on the Palm.

On the business side, Dr. Riewer was consolidating his practice and enhancing his dental expertise, while Silfverskiöld contributed her extensive management, financial, and strategic skills. She identified the potential of the burgeoning social media landscape and saw an opportunity to grow the practice through targeted marketing. With her support, the concept of Sky Clinics was born — a modern dental clinic that combines top-tier patient care with innovative marketing strategies. Silfverskiöld took the lead in marketing and strategic planning, enabling Dr. Riewer to focus on patient care.

Sky Clinics now has three branches — Dubai Sky Clinic in Burjuman, Sky Clinic in Jumeirah Lake Towers, and the newest Trio Dental Center in Business Bay — offering a wide array of dental treatments. The clinics employ over 15 highly qualified doctors who can cater to patients in various languages.

“Dr. Riewer frequently engages with the German School in Dubai, conducting dental check-ups and helping children overcome their fear of dentists. These visits are more than just professional engagements; they reflect his belief that prevention and education are crucial for good dental health. We have also developed strong ties with charitable projects in Africa,” said Silfverskiöld, Head of Marketing at Dubai Sky Clinic.

Dr. Riewer was deeply influenced by his grandfather, who played a significant role in the family’s post-war economic recovery through the trade of European woods. “Observing my grandfather negotiate with diplomats and international clients taught me the importance of going the extra mile for a distinguished clientele. These early lessons in negotiation and client relations were invaluable. After completing my studies, I applied these skills to my dental practice,” says the 54-year-old.

Working in both private clinics and insurance-supported practices provided Dr. Riewer with a comprehensive understanding of delivering high-quality care while ensuring efficiency. This experience enabled him to develop unique treatment concepts that cater to a high-end clientele, emphasizing exceptional service and efficiency.

Dr. Riewer’s visit to the UAE was initially a casual trip, but he decided to stay. “I assessed the market and quickly realized that my expertise was needed. I soon found cooperative partners and initially offered consulting services. After gaining a thorough understanding of the healthcare sector, I decided to establish my own practice,” said Dr. Riewer.

Today, the couple resides in Dubai with their nine-year-old twins, Alexandra and Constantin. For Silfverskiöld and Dr. Riewer, it is crucial that their children understand that success and responsibility are intertwined. As a family, they spend a lot of time together, whether golfing at the Montgomery Golf Course or participating in other activities that strengthen their family bond.
