2024 is a significant year for the Ghostbusters franchise, marking the 40th anniversary of the first movie and the 35th of the second. Hasbro is celebrating these milestones with a HasLab campaign that includes, for the first time in the Plasma Series line, the librarian ghost from Ghostbusters, Eleanore Twitty (Ruth Oliver), and Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) in his iconic jumpsuit.

The campaign is divided into two tiers, each corresponding to one of the movies. The 'base' tier features the Ecto-1 car, Eleanore, and a new Slimer figure, priced at around $350. The 'deluxe' tier, priced at $400, includes the car, both figures, an Ecto-1A rooftop conversion kit from Ghostbusters 2, all four Ghostbusters in their dark gray suits, and a variety of accessories. The crowdfunding campaign is currently over halfway funded and will end on December 2.

At Hasbro's Pulse event during New York Comic Con, GameSpot spoke with designer Pat Dennis and Emily Bader from Hasbro about the campaign. Dennis explained the challenges of obtaining likeness rights for Eleanore Twitty, who passed away, and the importance of capturing her as the shushing librarian rather than the typical 'haunted ape' depiction. Fans have long desired a figure of Louis Tully, and Hasbro is offering one if the campaign reaches its goal by November 2. The figure will include a proton pack, proton stream, PKE meter, and a trap, fulfilling fan requests for more accessories.

Dennis emphasized the Ecto-1's role as a character in its own right, noting its iconic status and the ability to use it as a lamp by plugging in a USB-C cord. Bader highlighted the campaign's alignment with fan requests for more ghosts, Ghostbusters II representation, and vehicles, hoping fans will be pleased with the offerings.
