The global energy sector is experiencing a transformative shift, with nations worldwide revising their energy policies to address contemporary demands and bolster their renewable energy portfolios. India emerges as a prominent leader in this transition, having recently introduced substantial measures such as the biofuel policy, initiatives promoting energy conservation and efficiency, and the implementation of a green hydrogen policy. These actions underscore India’s steadfast commitment to achieving its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) targets.

EIL has consistently aligned its strategy with the evolving needs of the global energy landscape. Over its six-decade journey, EIL has executed numerous large-scale energy projects both in India and abroad. Notable recent projects include PMC & OBE services for the Vizag Refinery Modernisation Project (VRMP) of HPCL, PMC & OBE services for the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery project (HRRL) with the highest petrochemical intensity, EPCM services for the capacity expansion project of IOCL-Panipat, and EPCM services for the Cauvery Basin Refinery (CBR) project for CPCL, with a combined capital expenditure of approximately $20 billion.

In the petrochemical sector, EIL is also providing EPCM services for the first-of-its-kind Propane Dehydrogenation-Polypropylene (PDH-PP) unit in India for GAIL. These multi-billion-dollar projects exemplify EIL’s robust presence in the domestic oil & gas sector.

EIL has diversified its business across various sectors including energy-efficient infrastructure, state-of-the-art data centres, LNG terminals, fertilizers, 2G Ethanol, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), ports & harbours, mining & metallurgy, among others, in addition to its strong oil and gas portfolio.

EIL has significantly expanded its global footprint, including EPCM services for the Dangote Oil Refinery Project (DORC) in Nigeria with a capital outlay of nearly $20 billion, featuring the world’s highest single-train refining capacity. The company is also providing PMC services for the 1.5 MMTPA Mongol Refinery project in Mongolia, funded by a Line of Credit from the Indian government. This project highlights EIL’s capabilities in executing projects under challenging conditions.

EIL’s international operations are particularly noteworthy in the UAE, where it has a history of successful collaborations with Adnoc and other major firms. EIL continues to work with Adnoc, recently completing critical FEED jobs and securing long-term agreements for consulting and professional services across Adnoc group companies.

Looking ahead, EIL is actively seeking growth opportunities in areas such as carbon capture and storage, bio-energy, and the integration of solar energy with process units, aligning with global trends towards sustainability and green energy. In the UAE, EIL is exploring engagements with Fujairah Port on new terminal facilities and long-term development projects for Adnoc.

Collaboration is a key driver of EIL’s strategic framework. EIL has declared 2024 as the ‘Year of Collaboration’, focusing on cultivating new alliances. The company has signed several MoUs and MoAs with renowned academic institutions, national laboratories, and industries to explore cutting-edge technologies.

EIL is leading the transition to cleaner energy by venturing into biofuels and providing services for the implementation of one of the largest biorefinery projects in India for Assam Biorefinery Private Limited (ABRPL), nearing completion. The company is also assisting various clients in preparing feasibility reports for new 2G ethanol plants in India.

Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) is another critical sector where refiners are keen to invest. EIL is spearheading initiatives to set up Bio-ATF plants in India in collaboration with CSIR-IIP and has been engaged by a client to implement an SAF production facility in India.

EIL has been at the forefront of green hydrogen projects, providing EPCM services to GAIL for the installation of a 10 MW green hydrogen production facility in Vijaipur, Uttar Pradesh, which has already been commissioned.

Energy Asset Integrity Management is crucial for decarbonisation efforts. EIL’s IIoT-based solutions, particularly for fired heaters, demonstrate the potential for technology-driven energy savings in refineries.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is integral to EIL’s ethos. The company has undertaken various initiatives to uplift low-income communities, including healthcare, education, skill development, and infrastructure improvements.

EIL has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Golden Peacock National Training Award 2024 and recognition from the PMI South Asia Awards 2024 and the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

EIL has designated this year as “The Year of Collaboration”, aiming to deliver innovative, cost-effective technological solutions to its diverse clients, fully aligned with its vision: “To be a Global Leader offering Total Energy Solutions for a Sustainable Future.”
