RIYADH: Shipping giant MAERSK, aviation conglomerate Saudia Group, and delivery company Aramex have been confirmed as key partners of the Global Logistics Forum, scheduled to take place in Riyadh from October 12-14.

Hosted by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services, the event aims to unite partners for enhancing supply chain efficiency, resilience, sustainability, and profitability, as stated in a press release.

The inaugural forum will welcome 10,000 attendees and feature over 120 speakers, including world leaders, ministers, business executives, and logistics experts.

This event aligns with Saudi Arabia’s intensified focus on its logistics industry, in line with the Vision 2030 economic diversification strategy. The sector is experiencing rapid growth, with a 76 percent increase in new business registrations in the second quarter of 2024, making logistics the fastest-growing sector in the Kingdom.

Rumaih bin Muhammad Al-Rumaih, the Kingdom’s vice minister of Transport and Logistic Services, highlighted the forum as a crucial milestone for the global logistics industry. “From the food we eat to the gifts we give, and everything in between, our modern world relies on the global logistics network. At the Global Logistics Forum, we will chart the future course for this vital industry,” he said.

Ibrahim Al-Omar, director general of Saudia Group, expressed that their role as a Presenting Partner for the event in Riyadh underscores their commitment to Saudi Vision 2030. “This forum is a critical moment for Saudia Group to engage with global leaders and contribute to the Kingdom's ambition of becoming a leading logistics hub. Our participation emphasizes our dedication to fostering innovation and collaboration in the logistics sector,” he added.

Othman Aljeda, Group CEO of Aramex, expressed excitement about the company’s collaboration with the Global Logistics Forum. “Earlier this year, Aramex opened a new regional hub in Riyadh, and our partnership at GLF will ensure we contribute our expertise and support Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 by promoting greater collaboration, operational excellence, and sustainable growth in the region’s logistics sector,” he said.

The Global Logistics Forum will also serve as a platform for signing MoUs between industry leaders in global logistics, formalizing a more interconnected sector and ensuring a more resilient and efficient global logistics network.
