Microsoft reported in a blog post on Saturday that a global tech outage linked to a software update by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike impacted approximately 8.5 million Microsoft devices.
The blog stated, "We currently estimate that CrowdStrike's update affected 8.5 million Windows devices, or less than one percent of all Windows machines." Microsoft also mentioned that CrowdStrike has contributed to creating a scalable solution to help accelerate a fix for Microsoft's Azure infrastructure. The tech giant has collaborated with Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform to identify the most effective solutions.
This IT outage, which affected various industries from banks to media companies, also caused delays, flight cancellations, and check-in issues for air passengers worldwide as airports and airlines were impacted.
