The Gulf Medical University (GMU) Career Fair 2024, hosted at its Al Jurf campus, featured the participation of 60 prominent companies from the healthcare sector, aiming to connect with aspiring healthcare professionals. The event, held on November 13, brought together a diverse array of exhibitors, students, alumni, and industry experts, fostering a unique environment for networking, career guidance, and recruitment.

This inaugural career fair at GMU was tailored for students and alumni from its six colleges, providing a distinctive opportunity to explore career avenues in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, biomedical sciences, and public health. With recruitment initiatives from leading hospitals, clinics, pharmaceutical companies, and medical research facilities in the UAE, the event acted as a vital link between academic learning and professional practice for the upcoming generation of healthcare leaders.

The inauguration ceremony was spearheaded by the chancellor, deans from the six GMU colleges, the esteemed academic team, and supportive partners. Professor Hossam Hamdy, chancellor of Gulf Medical University, emphasized: "The Gulf Medical University Career Fair 2024 underscores our continuous effort to bridge the gap between academic learning and the professional realm. It offers an unparalleled chance for our students and alumni to interact directly with industry pioneers and healthcare employers. In addition to the panels, the event provided students and alumni with essential career guidance through workshops like 'Crafting Your Path: Essential CV Writing Skills for Career Success'. These sessions offered practical advice on crafting compelling CVs and presenting oneself effectively to potential employers, arming attendees with the skills needed to excel in their healthcare careers. Students had the opportunity to engage with over 60 top-tier organizations and directly converse with HR representatives about internships, job placements, and career advancement prospects.

Exhibitors such as Thumbay University Hospital, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, ABBOTT, Emirates Health Services, Dubai Healthcare Authority, Al Zahra Hospital, Zulekha Hospitals, Prime Health, Al Ain Pharmacy, Insurance Market.ae, and others were present to address queries, conduct on-site interviews, and discuss the extensive opportunities in the healthcare industry. For many students and alumni, the career fair marked a significant milestone in their professional journey.

Aisha Al Tamimi, a final-year student at the College of Pharmacy, remarked: "This event was a turning point for me. I had the chance to meet numerous industry professionals and even secured a couple of interviews. It’s reassuring to witness the robust support GMU provides in assisting us in transitioning into our careers." Alumni also appreciated the opportunity to return to campus, with Dr Hassan Al Sherif, an alumnus of GMU's College of Medicine, stating: "Returning to the Al Jurf campus after commencing my medical practice was an extraordinary experience. It’s wonderful to see the university continuously aiding its students in confidently stepping into their professional lives. This event enabled me to contribute by offering career advice to the next generation."
