This week, golf enthusiasts are in for a treat as Europe and Scotland step into the spotlight, hosting tournaments for both men and women. The Genesis Scottish Open, co-hosted by the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, kicks off a two-week golf extravaganza at The Renaissance Club, with The Open at Royal Troon set to follow next week. The event boasts a star-studded lineup, including Rory McIlroy (NI), who returns after a hiatus following the US Open. McIlroy's impressive performance this season, highlighted by his victory in the HERO Dubai Desert Classic and strong showings in the Majors, keeps him at the forefront of the Race to Dubai. His memorable victory over Robert MacIntyre (Scot) in last year's final hole drama is still fresh in everyone's minds. Other notable players include top European golfers and PGA Tour stars like Xander Schauffler (US), Rickie Fowler (US), Collin Morikawa (US), Jordan Spieth (US), and Justin Thomas (US). Thomas Detry (Bel), a Dubai resident, makes a welcome return to European soil, ranked 52nd in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) and 30th in the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Rankings, along with Ludvig Aberg (Swe) and Matt Fitzpatrick (Eng), who have been missed on the DP World Tour.

Meanwhile, LIV Golf heads to Spain for the LIV Golf Andalucia event at Real Club Valderrama. Last year's individual winner, Talor Gooch, will be back to defend his title, joined by Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka. The event offers a whopping $25 million in prize money for both individual and team competitions. Dubai's Adrian Meronk (Cleeks GC) and Anirban Lahiri (Crushers GC) aim for a strong showing in the 10th LIV Golf event of the 2024 season. The Crushers GC, currently leading the Team Event, will see John Catlin (US), the Asian Tour Order of Merit leader, step in for Charles Howell III (US) as he recovers from a leg injury.

Women's golf is also in the limelight with the $8 million Amundi Evian Championship in France. Leading the charge are top LPGA players like Nelly Korda (US), Lilia Vu (US), Amy Yang (US), Minjee Lee (Aus), and Lydia Ko (NZ), all set to compete in one of the five recognized Majors in women's professional golf.
