Earlier this year, author Neil Gaiman faced accusations of sexual misconduct from several women, which cast doubt on the future of his Prime Video series, Good Omens. The show had already been renewed for Season 3, and Gaiman proposed stepping aside to ensure its continuation. Now, the series' fate has been decided, with Good Omens' final season being reduced to a single episode.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series finale will be a 90-minute feature-length episode. Gaiman will not be involved in the production of this final episode, though he reportedly contributed to the script. Filming for the concluding episode is set to take place in Scotland early next year.
Good Omens is adapted from the novel of the same name by Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett. David Tennant, formerly of Doctor Who, stars as Crowley, a demon who forms an unconventional friendship with an angel, Aziraphale (played by Michael Sheen). Both characters enjoy their lives on Earth, leading them to collaborate in preventing Armageddon.
Before the misconduct allegations, Gaiman had signed a multi-year development deal with Prime Video. The current status of that contract is uncertain, but at least one more Gaiman-produced show is on the way. Anansi Boys, based on Gaiman's novel, has finished filming and is slated to premiere on Prime Video in 2025.
