Earlier this week, Sega announced that the iconic Yakuza character Goro Majima will take the lead in the forthcoming game, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. During a recent live-stream, Sega's RGG Studio unveiled a new trailer for Prime Video's Like a Dragon: Yakuza live-action series, confirming Majima's presence and revealing the actor who will portray him.
Munetaka Aoki has been cast as Majima in the Like a Dragon: Yakuza series, a fitting choice given that he also voices the character in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. The trailer is packed with action but offers limited insight into the storyline. It introduces Majima along with the other two main characters: Kazuma Kiryu (played by Ryoma Takeuchi) and Akira Nishikiyama (portrayed by Kento Kaku).
In the series' narrative, Kiryu, a former Yakuza member, is pulled back into the world of his old clan and his childhood friend, Nishikiyama. The modern-day plot will include flashbacks to Kazuma's past, illustrating how his previous actions have influenced his current relationships and standing.
Prime Video has not yet released the full cast list for Like a Dragon: Yakuza, despite the series' premiere just over a month away on October 24. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is set to launch on February 28, 2025.
