Almost a year has passed since Rockstar Games unveiled the initial trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, marking the series' first sequel since Grand Theft Auto 5 in 2013. Fans had anticipated that today's financial report from Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, would feature a new GTA 6 trailer. Although that didn't materialize, Take-Two did affirm that the GTA sequel remains on course for a fall 2025 launch. During an interview with CNBC, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick admitted that some of the company's previous games have missed their initial release dates. However, he remains confident that GTA 6 will meet its release window. Zelnick emphasized that the extended development period is focused on refining the gaming experience rather than fixing bugs. 'In the case of an exceptional title, where there are high expectations, it's not really about bugs; it's about crafting an experience that no one has seen before, and Rockstar Games strives for perfection in their work,' Zelnick explained. 'And perfection is indeed challenging to measure; it's more subjective than objective.' The company highlighted in its latest fiscal report that GTA 5 has sold 205 million copies across all platforms, while Red Dead Redemption 2 has reached 67 million copies. Take-Two also disclosed that Borderlands 4 and Mafia: The Old Country are slated for release during fiscal 2026, which spans from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. The other upcoming titles, CSR Racing 3 and Judas, are yet to have their release windows announced.
