Gypsy Rose Blanchard's former husband, Ryan Anderson, has expressed his confusion over her decision to undergo a pre-birth paternity test for her unborn child. The 33-year-old, who filed for divorce from Anderson in April, recently confirmed that she had taken a pre-birth paternity test to establish that her current boyfriend, Ken Urker, is the father of her unborn child, according to People.
This decision led Anderson to address the matter on social media, where he told his 717,000 TikTok followers that he had never doubted Urker's paternity. 'I've never once questioned who the baby daddy was,' Anderson stated in a TikTok video on Tuesday. 'I never once said 'I'm gonna make a fuss about it' or 'I'm gonna prevent this' or 'do that.' I've never said anything like that. I've always said 'guys it's not my baby.'
Anderson, a special education teacher at a Louisiana middle school, expressed his disappointment at learning about Blanchard's test through online sources and speculated that the couple might be trying to profit from the situation. 'Now they're probably gonna sell the results, surprise surprise, they already know. I put money that they already know who the baby daddy is,' he said. 'I just would have waited until the baby was born and make it a simple swab instead of having a procedure.'
Blanchard underwent a noninvasive test that involved collecting DNA from her blood and Urker's cheek swab, according to the outlet. In his video, Anderson commented, 'Gypsy's probably already had that procedure done. You wouldn't tell TMZ about it unless you knew for a fact already who the baby daddy already was so Ken, congratulations, you're still a homewrecker in my opinion but that is your baby. I've never fought that. Gypsy knows that.'
In a peculiar legal twist, Anderson could still be listed as the father on Blanchard's child's birth certificate due to Louisiana law, which presumes the husband or ex-husband to be the father if the mother has been divorced for less than 300 days at the time of birth, unless a paternity test proves otherwise.
Blanchard announced her pregnancy on her YouTube account in July. She and Urker met through a pen pal program while Blanchard was serving a 10-year sentence for the second-degree murder of her mother, Clauddine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard. The couple got engaged in 2018 but later parted ways.
Blanchard later began a relationship with Anderson, exchanging letters while she was incarcerated. They married in a jailhouse ceremony at Missouri's Chillicothe Correctional Center in July 2022. Blanchard was released from prison in December 2023 and filed for divorce from Anderson, 38, three months later. Shortly after their separation, Blanchard rekindled her romance with Urker, and their baby is expected in January 2025.
