Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri informed Reuters on Wednesday that the group "appreciates" Lebanon's right to negotiate an agreement that safeguards the Lebanese people, and expresses hope for a resolution to end the conflict in Gaza. On Tuesday, Israel's Channel 12 television disclosed that Israel has consented to a ceasefire with Lebanon. The agreement is set to take effect on Wednesday, as announced by US President Biden. This truce is expected to bring an end to the war that has compelled hundreds of thousands in Lebanon and tens of thousands in Israel to abandon their homes. Since early Wednesday, the road leading to the major southern city of Sidon has experienced heavy traffic, as hundreds of displaced individuals returned to their homes following the ceasefire, according to AFP correspondents.
