Halloween is here, but if your thoughts are already on Valentine’s Day, we’ve got some exciting news for you: a new blood-soaked horror slasher titled Heart Eyes is on its way, with Freaky’s Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy handling the writing (alongside Phillip Murphy). The first trailer has just dropped, and being a Red Band trailer, it offers an early, gory glimpse, promising a new iconic horror mask, plenty of gruesome kills, and a sly sense of humor. It seems the new wave of original slashers will continue to impress – the concept of a killer targeting loved-up couples feels refreshingly original. While there’s not much plot detail available yet, the eerie masked villain is known as the ‘Heart Eyes Killer’. The cast, many of whom will likely meet a grisly end, includes Disney alumnus Olivia Holt, Scream’s Mason Gooding, and Fast & Furious’ Jordana Brewster, alongside Gigi Zumbado and Michaela Watkins. Horror fans will also be thrilled to see Devon Sawa, known for Final Destination, among the lineup.
Directing this Valentine’s Day treat is Josh Ruben, whose previous film, the acclaimed horror-comedy-mystery Werewolves Within, has garnered praise. Heart Eyes is set to arrive on Valentine’s Day in 2025, giving you plenty of time to find a date with a strong stomach. We’ll see if Heart Eyes earns our heart-eyes-emoji when it hits theaters next February.
