Team Australia has announced the inclusion of all-rounder Heather Graham as a substitute for fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck, who will be unable to continue in the Women's T20 World Cup due to a shoulder dislocation. Vlaeminck sustained the injury while trying to prevent a boundary during Australia's nine-wicket victory against Pakistan on Friday. This marks another in a string of injury issues for the 25-year-old, who was playing in her first World Cup match since 2018 and only the second of her career. Vlaeminck has previously undergone two ACL reconstructions and has also dealt with stress fractures in her foot and two dislocations of her left shoulder. This latest injury affects her bowling shoulder.
Graham, a right-arm seam bowler, is set to be available for Australia's final group match against India later on Sunday and the subsequent knockout stages. Australia, the six-time champions, have won all three of their matches in the UAE as they aim for a fourth consecutive title. However, they are also monitoring the fitness of captain Alyssa Healy, who was forced to retire hurt during the Pakistan match due to an injury to her right foot.
