The Dutch shipyard Heesen has unveiled the 55-metre superyacht Serena at its facility in Oss, the Netherlands, during a ceremony graced by the owners and their family. This yacht marks the seventh iteration in Heesen's 55-metre Steel series and the second to feature a redesigned exterior.
Serena was acquired by an experienced owner in 2022, following the commencement of its construction without a confirmed buyer. Arcon Yachts in Monaco facilitated the introduction of the buyer, who was represented by the firm throughout the construction process. The yacht boasts several distinctive design elements compared to its sister ships, Vida and Moskito, such as the omission of mullions in the saloon and skylounge, hidden crew access to the sundeck, and a square Jacuzzi. The exterior redesign is credited to Omega Architects.
Additional design features for this model include a bolder profile achieved through the use of uninterrupted tinted glass and a French balcony in the owner’s suite. The 55 Steel model also introduces extended exterior deck areas for enhanced functionality, complemented by additional staircases to facilitate crew movement. Notable onboard amenities include informal outdoor dining areas, a spacious sundeck equipped with a whirlpool and a wraparound bar, and a luxurious private apartment in the owner’s suite, complete with walk-in wardrobes. The yacht provides accommodation for up to 12 guests across five cabins.
Luca Dini is the mastermind behind the yacht's interiors, which are arranged with the owner’s cabin on the main deck, a large VIP cabin on the wheelhouse deck, and four guest cabins on the lower deck. Particular attention was given to the height of seating and the selection of user-friendly materials, with interiors also featuring velvet finishes, smoked eucalyptus, and Amazonite marble inlays. The main saloon is home to a bronze-finished bar serving both the main deck aft and the lounge, with a second bar located in the skylounge next to a games table. A standout feature is the revamped atrium, which includes hand-blown glass and hand-sculpted metal light fixtures designed by John Pomp from the USA.
As reported by BOATPro, Heesen currently has 10 yachts in various stages of construction, with the largest being the 57-metre Project Setteesettanta. This news comes shortly after the announcement of another sale within its 55 Steel series, tentatively named Project Venus.
