Dutch shipyard Heesen has recently laid the keel for Project Grace, marking the beginning of construction for the first yacht in their new 50-metre series. This innovative project was initially unveiled as a concept at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show and is currently available for purchase with delivery expected in the first quarter of 2027.
The interior and exterior design of Project Grace is a collaborative effort between Harrison Eidsgaard and the studio's partner, Peder Eidsgaard. The design was first showcased through a live-sketching event, where Peder Eidsgaard drew the yacht's profile in real-time during a special gathering.
The steel hull of Project Grace will be fabricated off-site at Talsma's shipyard in Friesland, Netherlands, a strategic move to prevent any cross-contamination with Heesen's aluminium production processes. Once completed, the hull will be transported to Heesen's main shipyard in Oss for final assembly.
This steel and aluminium fast displacement yacht has been meticulously designed with a focus on simplicity, aiming to streamline the exterior appearance. "We've invested a significant amount of time perfecting the visual appeal," stated Eidsgaard. Project Grace will feature Heesen's iconic arches, enhancing the yacht's powerful aesthetic, particularly in the wheelhouse.
Key highlights of the new model include a sundeck that is set to be one of the longest in its class, capable of accommodating up to 20 guests, and a distinctive coffee table that doubles as an atrium skylight. The yacht will also boast a spacious infinity pool at the aft and a clean, uncluttered foredeck with hidden tender storage below deck.
Accommodation on Project Grace will be provided for 12 guests across six cabins, with additional space for nine crew members in five cabins. In terms of performance, the yacht is expected to reach a top speed of 15.5 knots, with a cruising range of 3,800 nautical miles at 12 knots.
During the initial presentation in Monaco, Heesen's then-CCO Mark Cavendish revealed that the design inspiration for Project Grace was drawn from various high-end items, including a Land Rover, Beats headphones, a Mont Blanc pen, and a Rolex watch. This marks another collaboration between Heesen and Harrison Eidsgaard, following the successful completion of the 51-metre Irisha and the ongoing Project Akira.
