Dutch shipyard Heesen has revealed that the 55-metre superyacht Serena has commenced her sea trials. This milestone comes after the vessel's launch from Heesen's facilities in Oss, the Netherlands, earlier this August. Serena is the seventh yacht in Heesen's 55-metre Steel series and the second to feature a restyled exterior. She was sold to an experienced owner in 2022, following the commencement of her construction on speculation. The buyer was introduced by Arcon Yachts in Monaco, who represented the owner throughout the build process.

Serena boasts several styling modifications that distinguish her from her sisterships, Vida and Moskito. These include the elimination of mullions in the saloon and skylounge, concealed crew access to the sundeck, and a squared Jacuzzi. The restyled exterior is a creation of Omega Architects. Additional design adaptations for this new series model encompass a more assertive profile, achieved through continuous sheets of tinted glass, and a French balcony in the owner’s suite. The redesigned 55 Steel also features extended exterior deck spaces for enhanced functionality, along with additional stairways to facilitate crew access.

Onboard, Serena offers casual al fresco dining areas, a sprawling sundeck equipped with a whirlpool and wraparound bar, and a spacious private apartment for the owner’s suite, complete with walk-in wardrobes. Accommodation is provided for 12 guests across five cabins. Luca Dini is responsible for the yacht's interiors, which are configured with the owner’s cabin on the main deck, a luxurious VIP cabin on the wheelhouse deck, and four additional guest cabins on the lower deck. Special attention was given to the height of seating arrangements and the use of user-friendly, practical materials, with interiors also featuring velvet finishes, smoked eucalyptus, and Amazonite marble inlays.

The main saloon is highlighted by a bronze-finished bar that serves both the main deck aft and the lounge, with a second bar located in the skylounge alongside a games table. Another notable feature is the redesigned atrium, which incorporates hand-blown glass and hand-sculpted metal light fixtures from US-based designer John Pomp. According to BOATPro, Heesen currently has 10 yachts in build or under construction, with the largest being the 57-metre Project Setteesettanta. This announcement follows the recent sale of another unit in its 55 Steel series, provisionally known as Project Venus.
