Last year, Heineken, the renowned beer company, unveiled the Gaming Fridge, a unique PC with an integrated fridge. Now, the brand aims to empower gamers with the Cool Down Controller, designed to provide Heineken 0.0, its non-alcoholic beer, during high-pressure gaming sessions.
The Cool Down Controller made its debut at CCXP24, a Comic-Con event in Brazil, where attendees had the opportunity to witness its functionality firsthand. Developed in collaboration with creative agencies LePub Sao Paulo and Milan, the controller is equipped with advanced sensors that monitor button pressure and movement intensity. These sensors are programmed to detect moments of heightened stress, prompting the controller to signal a 'refresh' moment.
When the controller senses that things are getting too intense, its light changes from green to red, activating a special delivery service that sends a Heineken 0.0 to each member of the player's team. 'We focused on every detail to tackle a common issue faced by gamers: the pressure that can sometimes diminish the enjoyment for the entire team,' said Felipe Cury, CCO at LePub Sao Paulo, in a press statement. 'Our objective was to create a fun and social solution that alleviates tension, reignites excitement, and encourages everyone to take a break, reconnect, and return to the game together.'
To bring this innovative technology to life, Heineken 0.0 partnered with LeGarage, the innovation hub of LePub, which developed the sophisticated sensor technology. This responsive system enables the controller to react in real-time, signaling a cooldown moment precisely when it’s needed. While specifics about the local delivery system remain undisclosed, Heineken has announced that the Cool Down Controller will be showcased in various activations over the next few months.
Although the Cool Down Controller may not be available for purchase, gamers can currently find excellent deals on DualSense PS5 controllers and Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers, with the latter reaching an all-time low price.
