Hello Games has unveiled its latest 5.20 update, complete with detailed patch notes, but the star attraction is the sixteenth expedition: The Cursed. Similar to previous expeditions, The Cursed will be available for a limited duration, commencing soon and lasting for about two weeks. This expedition centers on players navigating a world where the boundaries of reality and other dimensions are indistinct.
Players will find themselves unable to use their hyperdrive technology to warp between star systems. Instead, interstellar travel will be facilitated through the ancient portal network. Participants will don the Anomaly Suppressor, a device that anchors them to reality. Ghostly entities known as spectral anomalies will manifest, typically posing no threat. However, as the Anomaly Suppressor's effectiveness wanes, these anomalies may become hostile or behave unpredictably.
To aid in their journey, players can consume various concoctions. The Elixir of Quicksilver reveals the locations of portals, while the Elixir of Blood opens gateways. Rewards for completing this expedition include new posters, a bioluminescent companion, a spectral trail jetpack, and an exclusive Boundary Herald starship, which resembles a UFO. This expedition appears to be the game's Halloween-themed event for the year.
The update also addresses several issues, such as graphical corruption on Xbox and depth of field rendering problems on Switch. No Man's Sky is accessible on PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox.
