Hezbollah's deputy chief is set to deliver a speech at 12pm Beirut time (9am GMT) on Monday, according to the Lebanese group's Al-Manar television channel. This will be the first address since an Israeli strike claimed the life of leader Hassan Nasrallah.

"Watch the speech of his eminence Hezbollah deputy secretary-general Sheikh Naim Qassem at 12pm Beirut time," the television channel announced. Official details regarding Nasrallah's funeral have not been disclosed yet.

On Saturday, Hezbollah acknowledged the death of its leader Nasrallah. In a statement, the group vowed to persist in its fight against Israel, "in support of Gaza and Palestine, and in defence of Lebanon and its steadfast and honourable people."

This declaration followed an announcement by the Israeli military, which claimed responsibility for Nasrallah's death. "Hassan Nasrallah is dead," declared military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani on X. Military spokesman Captain David Avraham also confirmed the elimination of the Hezbollah chief following strikes on the Lebanese capital on Friday.
