Hezbollah’s anticipated next leader, Hashem Safieddine, has been deemed "unreachable" following Israeli strikes on the Lebanese capital on Friday, according to a security source in Lebanon. Israeli air strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs since yesterday have prevented rescue workers from accessing the site of an Israeli strike suspected to have killed Safieddine, as reported by three Lebanese security sources.
Safieddine is widely expected to succeed the group's slain leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in a powerful Israeli airstrike on the city last week.
