Seven years after its initial release, Horizon Zero Dawn is receiving a remastered version that enhances its visuals and includes rebuilt and re-recorded dialogue scenes, aligning it more closely with its PS5 sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. If you've never experienced the first Horizon game, Sony will soon offer a physical edition of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for $50. However, by leveraging the current upgrade path, you can secure a digital version of the remaster for just $20.
The strategy involves purchasing the digital version of the original Horizon Zero Dawn. Sony provides an upgrade to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on PS5 for only $10. Instead of paying the full price for the new game, you can buy the older, more affordable version and upgrade it. You can find Horizon Zero Dawn at GameStop for $10, making the total cost $20 when combined with the upgrade. For a more comprehensive package, there's the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition, which includes the game and all its DLC. It's slightly pricier at $20 at GameStop, so with the upgrade, your total comes to $30—still cheaper than purchasing the remaster outright. Of course, if you already own Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4 or PC, you're eligible for the $10 upgrade.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is slated to launch on October 31. This has been a significant week for the Horizon series. Alongside the announcement of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered during Sony's State of Play livestream, the publisher also unveiled Lego Horizon Adventures, a Lego game inspired by the franchise. This synergy makes sense, as Horizon has already gained popularity among Lego enthusiasts, thanks to various sets that allow you to build its iconic robot creatures—and they are quite impressive.
Leading the lineup is the 1,222-piece Lego Tallneck, exclusively available at Amazon. You can purchase it for $105, slightly more than the $90 it initially cost. The price increase seems to be part of Amazon's exclusivity, but the set is Prime-eligible for free shipping and still cheaper than buying from a reseller. The Horizon franchise also offers action figures, graphic novels, and board games to keep fans engaged. Check out the full list of available items below.
Horizon Zero Dawn: The Board Game focuses on tactical action against some of the Horizon world's toughest robotic animals and is semi-cooperative for one to four players. It also features numerous expansions with additional creatures to hunt. Several notable Sony game franchises have action figures—the Horizon ones depict Aloy as seen in the second game, Horizon Forbidden West, alongside her loyal companion Varl.
