Hugh Jackman might not have been single when his rumored romance with Sutton Foster began. The 56-year-old actor was married to his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, for 27 years before they announced their divorce. Rumors have been circulating for months that Jackman may have ended his marriage to Furness, 68, with his "The Music Man" co-star, 49. Recently, the Australian actress appears to have responded to news of Jackman's relationship with Foster.
Furness "liked" a post from her private Instagram account by gossip blogger Tasha Lustig, who claimed Jackman had "blindsided" Furness by revealing his relationship with Foster, according to US Weekly. British media personality Amanda de Cadenet, a friend of Furness, also commented on the allegations, stating, "You are on point with this one. My beloved friend Deb is about to have her glow up any moment fyi!"
The Post has contacted representatives for Jackman, Furness, and Foster for comment. Meanwhile, sources told the outlet that Jackman did have "an affair" with Foster. "Sutton and Hugh's relationship is the reason Hugh and Deb got divorced," said an insider close to Foster. "A lot of people on Broadway knew, and we kept it quiet because both of them are so nice and great people. Everyone respected their privacy. But there was an affair and overlap." The source also confirmed that Jackman and Foster are currently together and "really happy."
Furness reportedly had "suspicions" about her husband working with Foster on Broadway. Jackman and Foster starred together in "The Music Man," which ran from December 2021 to January 2023. Nine months later, Jackman and Furness announced the end of their 27-year marriage. "Deborra-Lee had her suspicions when Hugh started working with Sutton," a source told the Daily Mail. "Their relationship is not a secret to her."
Earlier this week, Page Six reported that Foster filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years, Ted Griffin, with sources stating that she and Jackman are now officially a couple. "They are 100 percent together and are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together," one insider said. "They go out of their way to hide it, but it's common knowledge."
Furness, who shares adopted children Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19, with Jackman, has not publicly addressed the end of her marriage or the rumors about Jackman and Foster. A source told the Daily Mail that she "wants to be left out of this narrative." "She is not going to address this or speak against Hugh," they said. "When they divorced, they agreed to keep everything that happened during their marriage private." Another insider added, "Time has passed for Hugh to mourn his divorce and now Sutton is over her relationship, they are getting closer to making it official." The source noted that "Hugh still has tremendous respect for Deborra-Lee. They have kids and that is what is important to them both. The are repairing what they can, and will never talk ill about each other."
Jackman and Furness married in 1996 and released a joint statement about their separation in September 2023. "We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage," they told People. "Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth. Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness."
