Hurricane Milton is poised to strike the west coast of Florida on Wednesday night, prompting officials to anticipate extensive damage and flooding. Evacuation orders have been issued for a significant portion of the coastline, compelling residents to abandon possessions they cannot carry with them. In some instances, this includes high-end supercars.
Videos circulating on TikTok offer a glimpse into the luxury vehicles left behind by their owners as the storm approaches. The footage reveals rows of Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, Corvettes, Ferraris, G-Wagens, Porsches, and more, parked in garages and left to face the storm's wrath. Most of these cars are typical of the Florida car scene—new, exotic, and brightly colored. Among them, a few standouts, like the charming Fiat 500 Jolly and the flamboyantly painted C3 Corvette, are particularly noteworthy.
Not all owners rely on elevated parking garages to protect their prized possessions. Another TikTok video shows a C8 Corvette owner wrapping their car in a large plastic bag to shield it from floodwaters. Whether this is a stroke of genius or simply nonsensical remains to be seen.
Some owners lack access to garages. A video by Samcrac on YouTube shows them relocating their collection to a spot on their property, far from trees, to avoid potential damage from falling trees. However, these cars will still face the full force of the storm. We hope the 599 emerges unscathed.
It's not just supercars that are being left behind. Owners unable to secure storage or move their vehicles out of the area have resorted to parking them in high-elevation spots, such as bridges. WVUE Fox 8 shared an image on Facebook of cars parked on a bridge connecting St. Pete Beach to St. Petersburg. Meteorologist Craig Setzer also posted an image on X (formerly Twitter) showing dozens of cars parked on the shoulder of a bridge in Pinellas County, where St. Petersburg is located.
Stay safe, everyone.
