After a long period of conjecture and hearsay, Hyundai has officially affirmed its intention to manufacture the widely acclaimed N Vision 74 concept. This revelation is part of Hyundai's broader strategy to introduce 21 fresh models by the year 2030. The information was discreetly included in a slide during the company's yearly CEO and Investor Day, where the N Vision 74 was highlighted as an upcoming "high-performance EV."
Details regarding the powertrain or performance specifications for the production-ready N Vision 74 remain undisclosed, leaving it uncertain whether Hyundai will retain the concept's 671-horsepower hydrogen fuel cell or opt for a fully electric system. Given the limited widespread use of hydrogen technology, the latter seems more probable. Hyundai CEO and Investor Day Presentation, 2024
Rumors from December suggested that Hyundai might produce the N Vision 74 in very limited quantities, with only 100 units planned (70 for street use and 30 for racing). If true, Hyundai might manage to keep the hydrogen power source without significant opposition. Reports also indicated that the production model could generate 800 hp from its hydrogen, dual electric motor setup, although another source from The Korean Car Blog estimates it closer to 775 hp. This vehicle is anticipated to be exceptionally swift.
Hyundai has not disclosed specific production timelines, except for confirming that the car will be available before 2030. According to The Korean Car Blog, production is slated to commence in 2026, with research and development already in progress at Hyundai's Namyang development center. It is likely that camouflaged prototypes will soon start appearing on public roads.
