The Hyundai Ioniq 5 stands out as one of the premier electric vehicles currently available. Boasting an appealing design, a robust range, and a refined driving experience, it sets a high standard for an economical daily vehicle. Hyundai is now enhancing its appeal with the introduction of standard NACS charging and a new XRT trim designed for off-road capabilities. The XRT joins the Ioniq 5 series as the second specialized trim, complementing the high-performance Ioniq 5 N. This new model features a 0.9-inch suspension lift, distinctive suspension tuning, and 18-inch wheels fitted with all-terrain tires. While there's no mention of additional underbody protection, the existing shielding for the floor-mounted battery should be adequate for light off-road activities. Visually, the XRT is distinguished by unique front and rear bumpers with 'digital camouflage' cladding and is available in two exclusive colors: Ultimate Red and Cosmic Blue Pearl. It also includes red-painted tow hooks capable of handling up to 5,834 pounds and boasts improved approach and departure angles over the standard model. Additional features include specific badging, black mirror caps, all-weather floor mats, and revised seat upholstery.
Further updates to the Ioniq 5 include enhancements to the battery sizes, with the standard range now at 63 kWh and the long-range at 84 kWh. The XRT model comes standard with the larger battery and dual-motor AWD, aligning with its off-road focus. Hyundai has also adopted a new NACS-style charging port, providing access to Tesla's extensive network of Supercharger stations, effectively doubling the available DC fast chargers for Ioniq 5 owners. Hyundai will also provide a CCS adapter with each car to ensure compatibility with various charging stations. Other updates for 2025 include redesigned bumpers, a new spoiler, more aerodynamic wheels, and three new matte color options. Inside, the vehicle features a revised climate control layout, USB-C ports, physical seat heater controls, and support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Pricing for the 2025 model has not been disclosed, but it will be eligible for a $3,750 tax credit and will be the first vehicle produced at Hyundai's new Metaplant America facility in Georgia.
