Defending WTA Finals champion Iga Swiatek was ousted from the season-ending championship on Thursday, as Barbora Krejcikova's 7-5 6-4 victory over Coco Gauff sealed the Polish world number two's fate. Gauff had already secured her spot in the semifinals, but Swiatek, the world number two, needed the American to defeat eighth-seeded Czech Krejcikova, who herself required a win to advance. Swiatek had earlier delivered a commanding performance, dismantling Daria Kasatkina 6-1 6-0, but it proved insufficient. Gauff will now face world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the semis, while Krejcikova will take on Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen.
