India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Premiere 2024, one of the world's largest B2B gem and jewellery exhibitions, organized by The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), achieved a remarkable milestone by generating $12 billion in business over six days. This year's event, themed 'Brilliant Bharat', took place from 8-12 August at the JIO World Convention Centre in Mumbai and from 9-13 August at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO Goregaon.
The 40th edition of IIJS Premiere covered an expansive 135,000 sq. mt. (1.45 million sq. ft.), significantly surpassing similar shows in the West. With over 3,600 stalls and 2,100 exhibitors, the show attracted more than 50,000 buyers. International participation was robust, with 15 delegations from over 13 countries.
Parallel to IIJS Premiere, IGJME Premiere, a significant Machinery and Allied Expo, was held from 9-13 August, featuring over 220 companies and 320 stalls, showcasing cutting-edge machinery and technology. The event included an Italy Pavilion, emphasizing international collaboration and global outreach.
Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry, visited the show on 10th August, engaging with trade members and announcing the reintroduction of the Diamond Imprest Licence. He highlighted the government's efforts to support the industry through reduced duty rates on gold, silver, and platinum, and discussed India's strong negotiation stance with the G7.
Dr Harshdeep Kamble, Principal Secretary (Industries) of Maharashtra, announced plans to include a new exhibition and convention centre in the upcoming Industrial Policy. Vipul Shah, chairman of GJEPC, praised the show's success, noting its role in enhancing global trade and setting new industry standards.
Former Miss World Manushi Chhillar, the brand ambassador for GJEPC, celebrated the show's showcase of Indian artistry and heritage. Nirav Bhansali, convener of National Exhibitions at GJEPC, highlighted the integration of technology and sustainability in this year's event, emphasizing the industry's commitment to innovation and excellence.
