Excitement is building as a group of top amateur golfers prepare to compete at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club this week for the inaugural UAE Cup presented by HSBC, scheduled for October 25th – 27th, 2024.
The Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) is organizing this highly anticipated event, bringing together the UAE’s best national golfers and leading amateurs from around the world for three days of intense competition. The Elite division will run throughout the event, offering World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points. The top male and female winners will receive invitations to a Challenge Tour and Ladies European Tour (LET) event, respectively.
In addition to the Elite division, the UAE Nationals tournament will take place over the weekend, and the Future Falcons Par 3 Championship will be hosted for junior golfers of all skill levels.
General Abdullah Alhashmi, Vice Chairman of the EGF, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, "We are excited to host the UAE Cup, which not only showcases the exceptional skills of some of the world’s best amateur golfers but also strengthens international ties within the sport." He added, "This collaboration reflects our vision for the future of golf in the UAE, aiming to enhance our global reputation."
The event will feature a lineup of prominent international players, such as Ireland’s Emma Fleming and Singapore’s Justin Kuk, alongside talented UAE amateurs like three-time Presidents Cup winner Ahmad Skaik and his brother Mohammad Skaik.
Mohammad Skaik, who recently shot a remarkable 66 at the Boy’s Pan Arab Youth Championships in Tunisia, said, "I am looking forward to the event. It’s going to be a very strong field with players from many countries around the world, and hopefully, I can play well there." He added, "A UAE National winning the UAE Cup would be very nice, especially with it being a WAGR event. It’s a chance to show how good we are."
