Index Exchange celebrated Pakistan's 77th Independence Day with a grand event and a briefing on the successful campaign, 'Iss Baar, Hundi Pe Waar,' aimed at combating illegal remittances. The event, attended by the Pakistani expatriate community, business leaders, and special guests, showcased the significant progress made in promoting the importance of legal remittances. The event was attended by Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, who praised Index Exchange for their innovative efforts against illegal remittances. Ambassador Tirmizi highlighted the negative effects of illegal remittance methods like Hundi and Hawala on Pakistan's economy and stressed the need for expatriates to use legal channels, especially during challenging times.

‘We commend our blue-collar expatriates who are truly the 'unsung heroes' for using legal channels to send money home. Initiatives like 'Iss Baar, Hundi Pe Waar' by Index Exchange are vital in raising awareness, and we, as the Pakistani mission in the UAE, fully endorse these efforts,’ said Ambassador Tirmizi. More than 400,000 Pakistani expatriates have pledged against illegal remittances and participated in various awareness and entertainment activities organized by Index Exchange. The event was attended by officials from Al Hail Holding Group, Index Exchange management and board, representatives from the Pakistan Business Council, notable Pakistani businessmen, members of various Pakistani associations, and Pakistani banks.

Humayun Murad, executive director of Index Exchange, expressed his appreciation for the community, saying: 'We have been serving the community for the last 48 years and are dedicated to continuing our mission of promoting legal remittances and supporting Pakistan’s economy.' Syed Abdus Salam, chief operating officer of Index Exchange, emphasized the campaign's goal to strengthen Pakistan's economy through increased legal remittances. He stated: 'The campaign against illegal remittances reflects our commitment to bolstering Pakistan's economy by promoting legal remittance channels.' Mir K Rasool, chief business officer of Index Exchange, presented a detailed overview of the campaign, explaining its rationale, strategies, and impactful results. He noted that legal remittances are crucial for many families in Pakistan, providing essential financial support and aiding the country's economic growth. With the support of Abu Dhabi Police, Dubai Police, and other stakeholders, the campaign has successfully raised awareness, and there is optimism for a significant increase in legal remittances.

The event also included the recognition of business community leaders and professionals, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to mark Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day. This occasion not only celebrated the nation's independence but also reaffirmed the community's commitment to supporting Pakistan's economy through legal channels.
