As the UAE government initiates its two-month amnesty program beginning Sunday, September 1, the Consulate General of India in Dubai has implemented various measures and helpline numbers to support Indian nationals who have overstayed in the country. The Indian Consulate in Dubai stated that overstayers planning to return to India can obtain Emergency Certificates (ECs) free of charge. Assistance desks have been established at both the Consulate General of India in Dubai and the Awir Immigration Centre, which will operate from September 2, 2024, between 8am and 6pm. ECs can be collected from the consulate from 2pm to 4pm the day following application submission.
The statement also highlights that overstayers aiming to legalize their residency status and those with short-term passports can avail services at BLS Centres in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. These centres will accept walk-in applicants without prior appointments and will be open every Sunday from 9am to 5pm during the amnesty period. The consulate has set up a dedicated helpline at 050-9433111, available from 8am to 6pm, and the PBSK Helpline at 800-46342, which operates 24/7 for additional inquiries.
Additionally, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi announced several measures for Indian expats on Thursday.
