Pavan Kapoor, Deputy National Security Advisor to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, held a meeting with Andriy Yermak, the head of the office for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to discuss India's role in restoring peace amid the ongoing Moscow-Kyiv conflict. Yermak expressed optimism that Prime Minister Modi would support these peace efforts.

In a post on X, Yermak stated, "Met with the Deputy National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of @AmbKapoor. I emphasised the importance of restoring a just peace for Ukraine and for India's participation in this process. Expressed hope that Prime Minister @narendramodi will contribute to these efforts." He also addressed the critical situation on the frontline and the targeting of civilian infrastructure.

The Ukrainian President's website detailed Yermak's description of the frontline situation, including the Russian attack on Kostyantynivka. A recent missile strike by Russia on a supermarket in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, resulted in 14 deaths and 43 injuries, according to Ukrainian officials.

President Zelenskyy commented on the attack, stating, "Russian terrorists hit an ordinary supermarket and a post office. There are people under the rubble." Yermak reiterated the need for a just peace and India's involvement in achieving it, hoping for Prime Minister Modi's contribution.

India recently participated in the G7 Summit as an outreach country. Prime Minister Modi, during a meeting with Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the summit, reaffirmed India's commitment to a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. The leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and address the Ukrainian situation, as reported by the Ministry of External Affairs.

Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern over the loss of lives and the suffering of innocent children, emphasizing that a resolution to the conflict can only be achieved through dialogue, not on the battlefield.
