Middle-order batsman Sanju Samson scored a quick 58 off 45 deliveries and seamer Mukesh Kumar claimed 4-22 as India overcame Zimbabwe by 42 runs at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday, sealing a 4-1 win in their five-match T20 International series.
Opting to bat first, a relatively inexperienced Indian side, missing several key players, posted 167 for six in their 20 overs. They then held Zimbabwe to 125 all out in response, securing a comfortable victory. Samson hit four sixes and was the only Indian batter to make a significant contribution. Shivam Dube raced to 26 off 12 balls before being run out.
Zimbabwe were still in contention at 85 for three in the 13th over but lost four wickets for just 12 runs, losing their momentum. Their downfall began with the dismissal of top scorer Dion Myers, who made 34 off 32 balls. Kumar was the standout bowler for the tourists, achieving career-best figures by taking wickets at both the start and end of the Zimbabwe innings, while fellow seamer Shivam Dube took 2-25 in four overs.
