India secured the bronze medal in hockey at the Paris Olympics, defeating Spain 2-1 in the third-place match on Thursday.

This marks India's consecutive Olympic bronze in hockey, following their third-place finish at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Harmanpreet Singh netted both goals for India, turning the tide after Marc Miralles had put Spain ahead in the 18th minute.

The win also served as a poignant farewell for veteran Indian goalkeeper Sreejesh, who played his final international match. India had previously been edged out 3-2 by Germany in the semifinals, while Spain suffered a 4-0 loss to the Netherlands in the other semifinal.
