A 32-year-old Indian expatriate from Kerala tragically lost his life after a fall from Jebel Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah on Monday morning. SM, a resident of Dubai, had embarked on a camping trip to the renowned destination with three companions during the extended National Day holiday when the unfortunate incident took place.
According to his roommate, who chose to remain anonymous, the group had set up camp on Monday night. "Our friends who accompanied him mentioned that he suddenly vanished, and upon failing to locate him, they promptly informed the authorities," he told Khaleej Times. Nassar Al Maha, president of Incas and representative of the World Malayali Council, confirmed that the accident happened early Tuesday morning. The authorities were swiftly alerted, and SM's body was transported to Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah.
Al Maha emphasized the importance of caution for visitors in mountainous regions like Jebel Jais, particularly when participating in activities that involve risks, such as taking photographs near cliff edges. The roommate, who traveled to Kerala yesterday, revealed that SM's body had been repatriated after all formalities were completed. "I am currently at Kannur airport awaiting the arrival of his body. His final rites will be performed shortly," he said.
SM and his friends frequently embarked on road trips and outdoor excursions during holidays. "We both work in the same company; I am in the body shop, and he was a mechanical supervisor," he explained. "I had some work in the office, which prevented me from joining them. Otherwise, we typically travel together." Having known SM for over four years, the roommate expressed disbelief at his sudden passing.
